Beyond Aero continues to be closed for regular business through at least the end of May. At this time, our services are limited to phone/email sales as well as remote consultations (phone, email, video). We’re also not accepting any bike repair services at this time, and expect this to last through at least the end of May.
Below is a list of topics/FAQs about the closure and Shelter in Place order as it relates to our business. You may still get in touch with us by email or by clicking the chat icon in the bottom right corner of this page.
March 29, 2020 Update
Due to the Coronavirus / COVID-19 outbreak and Contra Costa County Shelter in Place order through at least April 7th, Beyond Aero is temporarily closed. We’ve created this page to keep you updated regarding the status of the shop and any changes we make to our availability during this time.
HOW LONG WILL BEYOND AERO BE CLOSED?
At the moment, we’ll be closed until at least May 31st per the Contra Costa County & California shelter in place order. This means we will not be conducting any type of business in-person, via pick-up/drop-off, repair service, or in-person consultations/fits at least until that date.
On May 31st, we’ll re-evaluate in accordance to the guidelines and advice set forth by the different state & county health departments, CDC, etc.
BUT BIKE SHOPS ARE DEEMED “ESSENTIAL BUSINESSES”
This is correct, bike shops have been allowed to stay open during the Coronavirus / COVID-19 outbreak, operating as “essential businesses.” However, our scope of work and bikes we sell/service are mostly - if not exclusively - bikes that aren’t used for transportation purposes.
Furthermore, we don’t want to understate the severity of the outbreak, and the ease with which Coronavirus is spread. While we always take the cleanliness of our shop very seriously, we don’t feel we can, with 100% certainty, provide a space that is immune or sterile for the virus to not spread. In the interest of you, your family, and ours, we’ve chosen to be overly cautious, even if it has lasting effects on our business.
HOW DETRIMENTAL WILL THIS BE TO BEYOND AERO?
There’s no doubt that choosing to remain closed will have an impact on our business, though it’s hard to say exactly to what degree. It’s also hard to know how detrimental staying open could be.
Unfortunately we’re one of many local, small businesses that will be affected, but it is clear that the quicker the pandemic is brought under control, the quicker we can get back to doing what we love to do.
We’re also aware that this will impact a lot of individuals in the United States and worldwide, directly and indirectly. Our focus is to control what we can, and for right now, the best thing for us and for our community is to be closed until at least May 31st. We hope you understand.
CAN WE STILL MAKE PURCHASES AT BEYOND AERO?
The short answer is yes, and thank you. Of course, while not in person, we’re still able to sell anything that we otherwise would sell you in-store. We can sell online via email (for now) or by phone (Text) and ship directly to you. We’ve lowered the minimum order amount required for free shipping to $100 (some restrictions apply).
Some of our distributors and partner brands are making this a lot easier by shipping directly to your house, which means, under regular shipping transit times, most items arrive the next business day.
We’re also currently working on a list of our favorite items, these will be uploaded to our online store, which you’ll be able to easily purchase there. For now though, the best way will be via the above methods: email or text.
WILL YOU BE OFFERING ANY FIT SERVICES DURING THIS CLOSURE?
We’re working on a way to offer a virtual fit option. Stay tuned, we’ll make an announcement with availability and process. We’ll be evaluating the same option for bike-related service.
